INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 11, 2016) – The statement below regarding Governor Pence’s State of the State address can be attributed to Peter Hanscom, initiative manager for Indiana Competes. Hanscom will be available for comment tomorrow evening outside the House Chambers immediately following the conclusion of the speech.

“Indiana’s business community is looking forward to hearing Governor Pence discuss his vision for moving our state forward by ending legal discrimination of any kind in our state. Members of our coalition have appreciated the many months of dialogue they’ve had with the governor and the opportunity to share our message that in order for Indiana to remain competitive economically and to retain its reputation as a premier place to conduct business, it is essential that all people are welcome within our borders. Based on our conversations, we expect Tuesday’s speech will be an opportunity for the governor to call upon the General Assembly to take decisive action in eliminating legal discrimination of any kind this year. Since December, Indiana Competes has engaged nearly 400 businesses in Indiana who support equal rights for all and we hope that Governor Pence and the members of the General Assembly understand how critical this issue is to the future of our state and will show leadership.”
